Award of University Charter is the best thing that can happen to an institution like ours that aspires to be a world-class University distinguished for academic excellence, service orientation and a commitment to social transformation according to the Gospel values. The Theme for the Charter Celebrations could therefore not have been more apt and relevant: Tangaza University: Celebrating a New Dawn for Greater Service to Church and Society.

“The granting of Tangaza University’s Charter is a testament to our unwavering commitment to academic distinction, innovation and societal stewardship”

Tangaza University having fulfilled all the regulatory requirements and after a rigorous assessment by the Commission for University Education received its university Chatter today on 2nd May 2024. In an official function held at State House, the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E William Samoei Ruto officially awarded Charter to Tangaza, declaring it a full pledged University in its own rights. In this ceremony also, Fr. Edward Etengu was installed the first University Chancellor.

“His Excellency Hon. Dr. William Samoei Arap Ruto C.G.H awards Tangaza University its charter, handing over the instruments of governing authority and the accreditation report to the Chairperson of the University Council Dr. George Muhoho.”

Again, the Instruments of governing Authority and the Accreditation Report was also handed over to the Chairperson of the University Council Dr. George Muhoho.

“The Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, His Excellency Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen blesses the instruments of power, before being handed over to Tangaza University.”

The Charter award marks a significant milestone and indeed a new dawn in the institution’s long-time commitment to teaching minds, touching hearts and transforming lives through quality education, research and community engagement. The award of the long awaited and well-deserved recognition bythe President of the Republic of Kenya is a testament and a public affirmation of the vital role the Catholic Church institutions have played and continue to play in this country and indeed a confirmation that Tangaza is a critical player in the education sector.

“Jubilation and celebrations as Tangaza University members proceeds to Nuru Hall, with the charter and instruments in hand and unveiling the plaque, marking a historic milestone in the history of Tangaza University “

Congratulations to the entire Tangaza community for this great achievement.
